Didn't catch any of this either. One of the main reasons for me to go to these events is to catch up with people face to face, make new contacts and share a beer or two in the evenings. If this Covid thing drags on, I may have to re-think that but I don't see big value for paying a few grand as an exhibitor when I can organise my own webinars and online sessions, something I'm already doing lots of.

I'd be interested to hear feedback from any smaller exhibitor as to whether they got their money's worth.

I agree, for us as a similar sized company it was too pricy given the existing financial risk.

Nevertheless, I "went there" and watched a couple of live demos which were at least well made.

Yet, what I've entirely missed this year were the usual "surprises" - companies, products or people that I've never heard of. When I heard about the virtual Intergeo I intially thought that the exibitors were at least vaguely structered as in real life. This would have helped to spot exactly these "unknown" related products or services. Instead, you had to click on one of the ~200 exhibitor icons to see what you can get.

Phlegmatic greetings are the consequence

Daniel

As in you completely missed it, or you thought it was not worth attending?

I attended a bit but you could not walk arhound like IRL. There was no café room and sound, video wasn't good imho.

Also quiet in a lot of rooms, people who placed papers in front of the camera,...

Hopefully Geobusiness will go through next year. And the normal Intergeo. Let's move on.

Have a stand booked for GeoBusiness so really hoping that it will go ahead. It has been a great exhibition for us since it started and they do make every effort to make it work well for the smaller players as well as the big vendors.

Slightly off topic, but got an Oculus VR unit for myself and the kids for a bit of escapism during the latest lock down here in Ireland also with a view for some SCC dev work further down the line. I struck me that it would be an excellent platform for online events, albeit with the big caveat that all attending would need access to a headset, though flat screen would work at a pinch. Something that replicated a physical environment with proper avatars for people and decent acoustics. Still a good way off an actual physical event, but something more realistic could be far more engaging.
