Hi all.

The price is set but does vary slightly depending on currency so please reach out to your local Trimble dealer.

It is very competitive though, no complaints so far :)

I guess I'm the only one who is still watching webinars and waiting for data sample.

Is there any update?

I work for a Trimble distributor in New Zealand, and am happy to answer any questions. I also recently made a video (don't comment on my lockdown haircut!) that shows the operation of the X7 in the field from point of view of the datalogger and am happy to share link if people want it?

I am conscious of the forum rules and don't want to cross any marketing/spam line, if it is OK, i can post the links and answer questions?

Hello, I have a question. I'm pretty new in the scanning world, I use a BLK360 since 1 year now. I want to upgrade very soon and I compare RTC360 with this X7. The RTC360 and the X7 are both 2 millions points/sec. A complete scan (without photos) ([email protected] resolution) take 25 sec with the RTC360 and 1m34sec with the X7.

How is it possible that the RTC is 3 times faster? Can you explain this?

I'm aware that I don't have all the knowledge in scanning and this is why I ask this question. I really want to know why. (For information the same complete scan take 1min40sec with the BLK360 while the BLK is 360mil pts/sec. I know that the quality is not the same of course.)

Thank you very much.

Hi Jonmag,

The Trimble X7 operates at 500,000 points/second, so the RTC360 is a faster scanner for collecting data. Trimble's position is that in many cases, 2 million points a second is significant overkill, creating enormous datasets that take forever to process. It should also be noted that data collected from the X7 is ready to export the second the scan is finished, and you can perform a bulk refine on the tablet if needed. So total time from start of first scan, to a fully registered *.e57 or *.rcp point cloud on a USB stick, may indeed be a lot quicker with the X7, even with additional scan time if very high point density is required.

Cheers!

My Riegl collects 500000 points per second and it is sufficient and even too much for 95% of the time. 2 million/sec slows everything down afterwards.

There is no need of 2 mil points, also RTC 360 needs USB special sticks that cost 800$! Are we serious?

I think everyone is confusing the number of points per second which is how fast the mirror is spinning in hertz with the resolution which is the scan density.

You don’t need to scan everyone at super high res unless the detail is required at that distance. Why wait for something to finish longer than you have to when time is money on site.
