Register 360 linking site maps with lots of scans in a bundle
I'm probably pushing reg360 to far on this project, but I'm going to ask anyway. I am working on a building scan project, inside and out on site control.
the project is at 5 floors 100-350 RTC360 scans per floor. I am struggling to be able to drag the linking stairwell scans from 1 sitemap to the next. Any suggestions on how I can link sites maps with large numbers of scans?

Yep I feel your pushing it a little far. I would import the data from reg360 into cyclone core and finish it there

Re: Register 360 linking site maps with lots of scans in a bundle
First, I heard somewhere that a Reg 360 Project is maxed out at about 500 scans. If that is so, you have more than they're recommending. Also you can Break the data to different bundles, as long as the control coordinates you use in each bundle are on the same coordinate system. We struggle with this for a while till we realized that you can not grab the top of the Bundle tree in one sitemap and drag it to another-you have to select all the setups in that bundle tree and group-drag it up to the other sitemap. Seems silly ,but that's the processwinslowkr wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 5:36 pm I'm probably pushing reg360 to far on this project, but I'm going to ask anyway. If you want everything in one complete bundle for the entire building, I don't think it's possible in Reg 360- but others can correct me if I'm wrong. I'd like to know cause we are getting ready to combine many floors in a parking garage to get the same result and we may be near the 500 scan limit.

you may need to not want to make all setups in one site. If you export all the sites at publish it will merge them. You just need to move one setup into the other site and link it. After that you can leave it or pull it back to the original site.

Thee's no hard limit, it was just a recommendation. As I said in an earlier post, after polling my European colleagues we have some users well over the 1000 station mark in REG360 and one with around 1400 stations... Re: Register 360 linking site maps with lots of scans in a bundle
Knock on wood, As I type this I am finalizing my project of 1,120 setups mostly RTC360 setups(my largest single linked finalize to date)
To fix my dragging linking scans from sitemap to sitemap, All I needed was a very tall screen (See image below). This allowed me to drag linking scans from sitemaps with over 300 scans in them. Cumbersome but it worked.
Thanks for the help

Re: Register 360 linking site maps with lots of scans in a bundle
Hi, i would thanks to Carbix for his suggestion, but i can't make next step, if a link one setup of sitemap 2 in sitemap 1 after drag it i have on the same coordinate system the new sitemap (it works if i drag all the scans in sitemap 1), practically i have sitemap 2 in sitemap 1 as bundle 2, bat at this point i can't finalize only this bundle, i have to mantain link to finalize all the project, but what i want and i think i'm not the only one is to finalize only one part. At this point if i move all the bundle into a new sitemap to finalize only the interested part i think i'm going to lose the coordinate system?Carbix wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 7:49 am you may need to not want to make all setups in one site. what i have to do the export only the interested part in the same coordinate system of general project?

Re: Register 360 linking site maps with lots of scans in a bundle
As long as If there is a link between 2 setup they will be in the same coordinate system, no matter what sitemaps are those on. as i wrote it to your own topic.PaoloC wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 5:00 pmHi, i would thanks to Carbix for his suggestion, but i can't make next step, if a link one setup of sitemap 2 in sitemap 1 after drag it i have on the same coordinate system the new sitemap (it works if i drag all the scans in sitemap 1), practically i have sitemap 2 in sitemap 1 as bundle 2, bat at this point i can't finalize only this bundle, i have to mantain link to finalize all the project, but what i want and i think i'm not the only one is to finalize only one part. It is just a little bit confusing for the first time that you can drag/rotate the setups on the EVERY sitemap (even the original one can be rotated moveed the coord system will be locked to the first imported setup which is in the bundle), what you need to understand it will not change the coord system until you create an UCS, or apply control or advanced UCS, etc..

Re: Register 360 linking site maps with lots of scans in a bundle
Hi, probably i made someting wrong, when i try to link setup of different sitemap i receive this message "unable to find setup in sitemap", register need to have setup in the same sitemap, as corbix posted is possible to drag a setup of original sitemap called 1 to another sitemap called 2 and define a link (or more than one), what i don't understand is if in this way when i'll export the sitemap 1 i'll have the point cloud in the same coordinate system of sitemap 2 and moreover where the setup i used to link sitemap 1 and 2 will be placed.badam wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 5:23 pmAs long as If there is a link between 2 setup they will be in the same coordinate system, no matter what sitemaps are those on. as i wrote it to your own topic.PaoloC wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 5:00 pmHi, i would thanks to Carbix for his suggestion, but i can't make next step, if a link one setup of sitemap 2 in sitemap 1 after drag it i have on the same coordinate system the new sitemap (it works if i drag all the scans in sitemap 1), practically i have sitemap 2 in sitemap 1 as bundle 2, bat at this point i can't finalize only this bundle, i have to mantain link to finalize all the project, but what i want and i think i'm not the only one is to finalize only one part. i tryed to follow this steps but register show me sitemap 1 far from 2 and i think it rapresent that two sitemap are on different coordinate system moreover setup that i used to link is part of setup 2 so should not be exported.
If you know some video or tutorial about this steps i'll would be grateful.
Thanks again

Re: Register 360 linking site maps with lots of scans in a bundle
There is no way to add links between sitemaps (if a setup is shown grey you cannot create new link to them). So if you need to create link then the setups should be on the same sitemap during link creating, after link creation you can move them over anywhere you want it.PaoloC wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 9:24 am

As long as you export the same bundle they will have the same coordante system after export. Please don't assume they don't, just try it, if you don't believe it.
You can move/rotate around the setups/bundles on every sitemap it is not related at all to the real coordinate system of the point clouds... Your coordinate system will depend on UCS, applied control or the "original" setup coordinate system (I suppose the first setup in the bundle).
