Exporting structured scan after Unify? Un-Unified ModelSpace?

Post by winslowkr » Mon Apr 08, 2019 5:07 pm

I unify most of my model spaces after I have registered them for ease of cleaning up. I have a client asking for a structured e57 file from a project that we finished months ago. The client wants to see the nice “bubble 360 images” in recap. As the title says can I un-unify a model space to that I can export structured scans?

no need to un unify it. just create a new modelspace and it will make a new modelspace with what ever you have set as default.

It entirely plausible that it's my level of experience/training(only about 1 year into scan registration), but I am not following your comment. It sure reads like you have a workflow that gets what I need. Any expansion would be great, thanks.

If you have unified and then cleaned a data set you can write those changes back to the original scanworlds.

When you then create a new modelspace (which won't be unified) it will be clean already and you can publish this.

From the unified space.. Tools - Scanner - Set default clouds ( or similar I'm not sat Infront of cyclone at the moment )

I feel like on the right track but I just haven't figured it out. Ive attached a screenshot below of where I think I'm stuck.

My workflow goes as follows for most projects

1. Import scans in REG360.
2. Add links to register all scans in REG360.
3. QC bundle in REG360.
4. Import REG360 project into Cyclone Classic.
5. Open “Un-finalized” registration
6. Register – Create and freeze scan world – Create and open modelspace
6. Name that Modelspace “Modelspace Reg360”
7. Copy that modelspace and name it “Modelspace U and O”
8. Unify and Optimize the above model space
9. Copy “Modelspace U and O” and name it edit
10. I then move and rotate the above modelspace to try to best match our design CAD file. And clean out any scanner error items (people that walked into the scan and moving things)
11. After doing a final QC check on the point cloud, I export point cloud to .pts file to deliver to the client.

I’m sure there are some steps I missed in there by those are the big hitters. I know that I will need to change my export to an e57 file, but Im missing the steps on how to get back to a structured point cloud.

Your quite right it's not as simple as I thought.

When you have finished cleaning you can do tools scanner set scanworld default clouds to keep cleaning across new modelspace s but any new modelspace is also unified which doesn't help.

Maybe someone else can chip in.

I updated the title of the post. Hopefully, more experts can help out.
