Cloudworx for Revit

Post by rpwolfgang » Mon Dec 03, 2018 2:53 pm

Hello. New to the forum. Is anybody here using Cloudworx for Revit? I'm a structural user and trying to utilize the steel fitter tool to model a building that we scanned. The scans are really good but when I try the tool I always get the message "Failed To Find Steel". Is there something I'm missing or not doing correctly? Any help appreciated. Tried cutting sections to really zero in on a member but still get the same message.

Might be a question for Leica Support. I'm a Revit user and I prefer to model things like steel manually.

The steel fitter tool is tricky and needs a fairly high quality point cloud of the steel members. In short the steel fitter tool is mediocre at best but the pipe fitter works well.

Try to clip as much as possible to view only the steel. For your click points make sure you are selecting points on the inner web.

So what is the recommended work process for modeling existing structural steel from a point cloud in Revit? Is best practice really to cut views, measure members, check steel book and then remodel?
