Hi Jay,
Wow, I used to be an exhibition designer in the 90's, that is how I learnt to use 3D AutoCad/Max.
The cheapest, simplest, easiest solution would be a Faro S70 or BLK360 scanner combined with Rhino 3D.
You can export FBX out of Rhino to import into Max
You might find a lot of your clients are using Sketchup Pro, that will accept Rhino files as a 3D DWG
