Hi
My name's Jean-Philippe and I'm French
Working in engineering(in factories) since 15 years as a drafter, then modeler, now freelance.
I'm working sometimes with points cloud on Revit (5 years of practice so I need to learrn manyyyyy things yet!)
i need to create my own points cloud when the customer didn't think to it
my goal is to compare the 2 softwares which convert a part of a points cloud to IFC or RVT items : CloudWorks (Leica) and RealWorks (Trimble)
But to begin i need to create correctly the points clouds with the samples coming from my first scans!!!
Phil

Re: Points cloud to BIM
You do not require 'third-party' software, for example with Revit, to generate 'scan2BIM' models.

Phil,
Third-party add-ons are not necessary to facilitate 3D models, whilst using point cloud data.
Having been modelling from point cloud data over 8 years, using Revit for 15 years and being a structural senior technician for over 31 years, trust me, they are further expense, which overall offer limited benefits with spurious outcomes.
