Is it possible to turn off raw file saving from Theta? It's big file, and since dynamic range from jpg is excellent, it would be cool if we can turn off dng saving. It would reduce file size and saving time. Just add simple option to save or not raw file from Theta :)

Can someone from faro comment on this?

Hi Nino,

this is currently not possible. We are using the raw dng files for colorization because they show better results compared to using the stitched images from the Theta itself. The reason is that the stitching of the Theta does not know about the 3D information of the point cloud. This is something that we exploit in our colorization algorithm.

Regards,
Daniel

Oh, I thought that dng was same as jpg, but with metadata for better extraction of shadows/highlights, exposure, ...

Thanks for explanation.
