Black border around mesh

Post by IsaacMui »

Hi all,

I'm having a visual issue when converting point clouds into mesh where the mesh creates a black border around objects. Im wondering if this is an inherent issue with meshes or something to do with the shadowing of meshes and can be altered in settings.

I have attached an example below;

Point cloud:

Mesh:

It affects the visual cleanness of the mesh so would appreciate any help with this.

Cheers

Hi Isaac, Thanks for posting.

The blacklines are caused by the created texture being scaled to fit the created model (we'll go offline to explain in a bit more detail).

To create a more visually pleasing mesh, you can flip to the "advanced" settings during the mesh model creation, and lower the "Maximum Supertile Size" to a lower value (default is 1000mb, try 250mb). This will produce more texture files and so create a cleaner result overall.

I'll drop you a message offline to get a workflow demonstration set up.

Thanks again,
Mike
