Remote control?!
Hi everyone.
Are there any other ways to remote control the FARO FOCUS, than the browsersolution as mentioned below?
https://knowledge.faro.com/Hardware/3D_ ... ile_Device
I experience a lot of problems with this solution. Some days it works fine, and other days i can not connect at all. Restarted phone and scanner like 5-6 times without any luck.
I am a bit scared to travel a long way for these kind of jobs, because i can not be sure that the remote control functions correct.
We are in 2020 and i can not remote control my scanner without connection issues.

Re: Remote control?!
As I do not know exactly what the issue its better he goes through our support at this time.
The scanner is an S120 which was the first generation of the Focus-series. I believe that our capabilities and the enhancements that has been done from the S120 to today is quite significant.
It works really well with the new S-series and our Onsite-Registration is relying on the capabilities of using the Wifi on the scanner.

Re: Remote control?!
Hmm are you saying : we don't give a solution to existing S120 users (i believe there a a lot of there) but we try to sell some new stuff, even if it isn't necessary for them or send the unit in so we can charge $$$ for a simple fix?

Re: Remote control?!
@Lieven Beuckx thanks for your comment. I only state he needs to contact our support regarding the issue but that the developtment of wireless technology in general has been improved since we launched the S120.

Re: Remote control?!
With the S120 and X330 I was having problems with the connection on a 60' mast. It was in a city environment where interference could have been the problem. I attached a usb wifi adapter to a 50' usb cord, plugged it into the laptop and attached it close to the scanner. Not a convenient solution but it did work.

In the forum the issue has been discussed in the past, and alternative solutions were presented:
