Navisworks with Cloudworx, If it is more of a clash or anticlash your after. ie is my model within xxx of my pointloud. Anticlash is an interesting aproach for scructures, do I have scandata where they is no model at all.

Hi fellas,

I have just started a job as a laser scanning operator in company that supervises big construction project.
They want to check contractor MEP by comparing point cloud to planed BIM models.
As a can understand this software suggestions are more for sort-of deviation analysts(mm-cm differences from PC to BIM models)??
Any suggestion for software/workflow with more global comparison and reports between scan and BIM?

In the office they use REVIT and SCENE, but getting new software like ReShaper will not be a problem if it will do the work.

Any suggestions are welcome for this newbie.

Thank you!

Many ways to do this. polyworks, reshaper, cloudcompare (free).

A new software just launched, http://skur.com/. Looks like it may be a really good solution. check it out.
This link no longer works...is there another?

You can try new UNDET for Revit features. No difference that the 3D model will be created in AutoCAD, SketchUp or other software. You just need import created model to Revit and you will be able to analyze it.

Here is an overview video.

Undet Point Cloud Software provides software solutions for AutoCAD, ARES Commander, Revit, and SketchUp point cloud users to save time, increase efficiency, and reduce errors in creating 3D models and 2D drawings.

I would recommend Leica 3DR (formerly Reshaper). I have used a trial version and seen numerous demos and it does exactly what you are after. You can create reports direct from the software and also include 3D PDF's. Would highly recommend...plus you get all the extraction tools etc as well.
