600+ Scans with Z+F 5016
600 scans in a huge industrial site, interior as well as exterior scanned within 5.3mm accuracy. Did I mention target less?

I keep seeing people post their 'targetless' accuracies, how can you prove it, or even feel confident on such a large project without an independent check(s)?

You are right, that is exactly what we did it. All scans registered C2C while we install more than 150 targets. Targets was measured interdependently by survey crew. I am waiting to get the survey result to put it into registration software and compare the result.

Re: 600+ Scans with Z+F 5016
Cool, I just see lots of people quote their projects seemingly purely on what the Software is kicking out as RMS/residuals without any substantial way of qualifying it. It's bad enough with vendors incorrectly quoting accuracies haphazardly, treating a single distance RMS on a device's spec sheet as the accuracy of a completed scanning project.
We've done enough Scan-to-scan jobs where the Software kicks out fantastic results while there still being separation/error when checked visually. I am always skeptical that a truly targetless job, especially a large one, can meet such low residuals/RMS. The math never seems to check out in my head when thinking of Numerical Analysis and Survey Theory.

Peyman,
how long did it take to collect all the data?
How many scanners/people did you have in the field?
What resolution/quality did you use?
Thanks

One man (yours thoroughly) and one helper for scanning for 7 consecutive days (10 to 11 hours) plus a surveyor for 2 days. The scan resolution was High and quality Normal. 3.30 minutes per scan.

I forgot to ask: B&W or Color? This is really important

600 scans in 7 days, that's 85 scans per day at 3.30 minutes per scan that's 4,5 hours. What where you doing the other 6,5 hours of the day
Say one minute to move thats only 1,5 hour to add. I didn't know lunchtimes in Canada were that long

Re: 600+ Scans with Z+F 5016
Good amount of scans there
@sersab you can add 1min 30secs to each scan if you want to work out time to add photos. Thats on the icam fast setting and around 3 min depending on lighting if you want full hdr, we use fast all the time, its good enough to get the colour in the cloud and fast enough in field that we dont feel like we are standing around too long
Did you run it as multiple projects and then merged later or groups within singular project?
Let us know how it goes with merging the survey data, its usually at this last step where i am greatful for scantra
looking forward to the fly through!
