Trimble tx6 vs faro x350

Post by Leinster »

Does anyone have any experience in comparing the data quality and accuracy acquired from these two scanners?

I have FARO S350 and ive never tried aTrimbel TX6.Looking at the specifications the S350 range is 350 meters and the TX6 is 80 meters, expandable to 120.The S350 is +/-1mm accuracy and the
TX6 2mm. The S350 can measure twice as many points per second as the TX6. But nobody run them at full speed...They both have HDR cameras which is good. I didn't see data on dual axxess commentators but i know that the S350 has a good accurate set.

I don't know about cost or maintenance issues. I don't know about Trimble software but FARO'S SCENE is a rock....most of the time.

To me Trimble is very much like Apple, pretty much a cult business model...

But do check them both out and let us know what you find.

Thanks for your feedback, I’ve used the tx6 as a demo and understand from all the spec sheets etc the difference in paper but in the real world there’s little to compare.

I have the option of buying either a tx6 new or faro s350 ex demo within the same budget and I am trying to decide which is best suited and knowing that one is half the weight, double the points per second and has a longer range, is this more important or is there better quality of data, ease of larger data sets and process to deliverables from the tx.

Again appreciate the feedback, I am hoping to push towards the as built and constructed market and the faro is looking good but the Trimble has support and backup at hand which is comforting.

Cheers

I do have a faro S70, the size by itself is a huge difference, taking it as a carry-on in the airplane, and a light setup in the field is a top priority and reduces the cost for my clients. And on top of that is the excellent quality of the data and ease of use of Faro Scene.

Very generally, clients seem pleased with the Faro350. It is a quality scanner.
It is going to depend on your workflow though....I have had a number of clients work with both on a variety of projects, DM me if you want to chat about it. Good luck!

first scanner that I really got to use was a Trimble. I don't like that you need to work so hard just to scan, in this day in age a lot of the set up should be handled by the tech. I am not paying a gold bar for an plastic machine.
