SCENESCENE 2019.1: clipping box visibility stat is not saved any more
Hello
Before in SCENE 2019.1 clipping box visibility stat was saved in workspace. That is, if we save the project with some clipping box not visible when open the project again and a 3D view, the clipping box remain not visible like it was.
Now in SCENE 2019.1, every time a 3D view is open every clipping box are showed with its stat set to visible. Looks like it is a view property not a workspace property. (please see https://www.laserscanningforum.com/foru ... =10#p78979).
This change is very bad as force us to set all CB viability again every time we open a 3D view !
The worst impact appear in generating orthophoto. Now, even if we set clipping box visibility off at the 3D view already opened, it is set back to on in the process of generating the orthophoto giving the resulting unusable!!!
Unhappily I discover this bug after I have made some changes in a project and now it is not possible to open it in a previous working version. Having very long and difficult time to export all scenes to e57, open it in previous version, remade SPC, PPC and all the detailed clipping box again in order to get a good acceptable orthophoto!
Has any one faced this problem? Any way to work around it?
Are there any possibility of FARO fix this in next release? Maybe a new fix in few days so I do not have to redo all work I have made on projects opened in the 2019.1 version.
Lesson learned, test every feature important to me, wait more weeks, do backup before put a new version in production. But it is not always possible.
Thank you
Roberto

Hey Roberto,
have you reached out to FARO customer service? They may be able to help you to role back the project so that it can be opened with an older SCENE version again.
Best regards,
Daniel

Re: SCENESCENE 2019.1: clipping box visibility stat is not saved any more
I just found a workaround.
You can put the clipping boxes on a layer you don't use and when you turn that layer off the visibility is saved again

I wanted to inform you that the visibility issue has been fixed and will be part of the next SCENE release (probably SCENE 2019.2). We do not yet have a date for it.

Hi,
Good news, thank you!
Could it be possible to release a patch to correct this problem before the new SCENE version?

Re: SCENESCENE 2019.1: clipping box visibility stat is not saved any more
Hello,
I am also having this issue. All of my Ortho photos contain hidden clipping boxes as well as objects and marked planes. While we wait for the next update/patch, is there a workaround we can use? I am sure it comes as no surprise that many of us use the software for work, and would like to continue using it!
Thank you so much for your help,
Dillon

I'm a bit confused. This thread already contains a workaround.....DillonE wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2019 3:46 pm Hello,

Re: SCENESCENE 2019.1: clipping box visibility stat is not saved any more
I saw this solution, but it did not seem to help the problem. Clipping boxes still appear in ortho photos, and moreover when the application is closed/reopened, the clipping boxes cease functioning.
For now, we are tracing ortho photos with multiple visible clipping boxes and various shading. Thanks for your help, and for the link! I am sure Faro will release a patch soon....
