Is anybody else having trouble with the POD export?
Hello guys,
I have a big problem. I have a few big projects (ca 300 scans, resolution ¼). And when I export the scans into the POD format it takes ages.
At first it goes really fast, like a minute per scan, but then the more scans are exported, the slower it goes. In this case up to ONE HOUR per scan.
E57 is no problem. It takes max two minutes per scan.
Is anybody else having trouble with the POD export?
Start POD export. Watch the timestamps End of the export. Watch the timestamps My Scene Version:
Application Name: SCENE
Application Version: 2019.1 (7.4.1.2455)
License Version: 2019.0
API Version: 2.0.20.2455

I assume (I have no idea!) that there are not so many people who export pod files out of Scene.
Can you import the lsproj / fls files into PODCreator/Pointtools?

Re: Is anybody else having trouble with the POD export?
I installed the "Bentley Pointtools PODcreator" this morning.
".lsproj" is not a format that I can add.
Everytime I try to convert a ".fls" the program seems to kinda "crash" (It is open but is instantly at 100% and canceling is doing nothing)
Since my customer wanted ".e57" too. I tryed to convert from ".e57 " to ".pod". That worked without a problem and fast. Like two scans per minute. Sometimes more

I assume that the PODCreator is using an older version of the Faro SDK and you created the lsproj/fls with a newer version of Scene and therefore it was unable to load them. (SDK version must be higher or equal as Scene version).
But good to know that you were able to find a workaround with e57

I think you are right but it is is not fixing the export problem within SCENEVXGrid wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 3:22 pm I assume that the PODCreator is using an older version of the Faro SDK and you created the lsproj/fls with a newer version of Scene and therefore it was unable to load them. Hi Raimund,
can you share some additional details so I can try to reproduce this? Which POD export settings did you exactly use? Did you use scan point clouds? Did you use the structured or unstructured scan export? Did you check the task manager to check if SCENE used an large amount of memory at the end?
Thanks,
Manuel

Is J: an external hard drive?
Is there enough space left?
Why is there no filename?

Re: Is anybody else having trouble with the POD export?
When I exported the scans I exported from "F:\" an 1TB SSD to "E:\" an internal HDD (4TB) with 1,5 TB free space.
I left no filename because it worked always without one. The structure of the naming is "the name I type in" underscore "scan name".pod. If I don't type a name it is just e.g. _scan_001.pod
