Help with Museum Project FARO 3d X
I work in Law enforcement and typically only scan crime scenes and wrecks. I have been assigned to scan a police museum, put the scans online and make it interactive (links you can click on within the scan of exhibits). Has anyone done something similar to this that could offer me some pointers?

How much square footage? Is it open space, or with many corridors? Do you typically register the scans using spheres at a scene, or checkerboards? The floorplan drives some of the strategy.

Not sure about making the links interactive, but there is a way to create a custom video straight from Scene. It is a downloadable app in the FARO 3DAPP center you can append to Scene. I just got done learning how to use it and testing it out, makes a great video.
I would like to learn how to make a interactive scan session as well.

I did something similar by exporting photospheres & using webVR.

Hi There
We use a similar type of approach by publishing our scene project to websharecloud.
In websharecloud you can add an annotation on specific items such as museum artifacts and then link documented objects to the annotation.
we take high res 360 pano images using a theta camera that we host as a web tour online, and then link this tour to the webshare annotation.
The annotation can have multiple links so you could also link the user to some other informative information or even a website as well as the detail imagery that you may have taken.
the links open up in separate tabs so that you always have access to websharecloud.

We use webshare2go or Scene2go all the time. Websharecloud does what you are looking for. If survey or measurements of the building aren't important, I would suggest scanning more and ditching the targets. It will look better if there aren't a bunch of spheres in your scan pictures.

Photospheres can be exported from Recap & Cyclone. From there you can showcase them using A-Frame or plain Threejs to build a basic web app. https://aframe.io/Felix_the_Cat wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 2:45 pm

I enhanced my scene with a rough minimap as I found the client would often get lost while navigating, especially in VR.

Thanks all. These responses have pointed me in the right direction. I'll post an update when I make some progress.
