RealWorks - Main view window is not responding.
Hello all,
I am writing to you because I have a problem with my Trimble Real Works. After formatting my computer I installed TRW again but there is a problem with visualizing point clouds. At the beginning everything looked good, but after importing scans, the main window in which the point cloud is displayed has become permanently frozen. I can move around different tabs, click the small light bulb but nothing changes in the main screen. I can't pan, rotate or zoom. Strange thing is that when I have only geometry in my project everything works fine. The problem occurs only with point clouds.
I have all drivers up to date, laptop specyfication:
-Intel 7700k
-GTX 1070m
-32Gb Ram HyperX 2400
I tried a second format and a older software version but it changed nothing, It is annoying because everything worked before. Do you have any suggestions?

Could you please indicate the version number of Trimble RealWorks and the exact graphics card driver that you are using?
Meanwhile, you can also try to install the version 11.1.1 of Trimble RealWorks, which might solve your issue.

The graphic card on my laptop Is NVDIA Geoforce 970M.
My operating system is Windows 10 Build 1809
Installed RAM: 16.00 GB
Processor Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60 GHz.
What seems very strange to ne, is that IO have used that software several times on that computer before, without any problem.

Hello Ehrlich,
This looks like a graphics card issue. You might be using the integrated graphics cards instead of the dedicated graphics card.
To check which graphics card TRW is currently using, go to Support>About, and look at the information shown under 'Graphics card being used'.
You might also want to go to the Nvidia control panel and force the assignment of your graphics card to Trimble RealWorks.exe.

I ma sending you some screen shots and an error log message that the software often display.
The screen shots are from the last computer I own that was able to run TRW. As of today, It cannot run it anymore, because of the same problem display...! This is very frustrating!!!

Did you change power settings?
Default laptop setting is "balanced" when you plugged in.
Under windows' "graphics settings" menu there is a droplist.
Browse and select realworks.exe.
Then set your Nvidia 1080Ti to work on high-performance mode.
Maybe this can help.

I've had exactly the same problem, so I brought a machine home from my work and tried to use that... I unplugged one of my monitors to plug into the office computer and whilst I was waiting for boot I tried it with one monitor.... No problem at all...it's weird because the office one is a gtx 770 and the home one is a gtx 1080 both have the same spec otherwise apart from the refresh rate which is 60hz on the office monitors and 144mhz at home... For now though my workaround is to unplug a monitor!

We have exactly the same issue after installing a new drive and updating from windows 8 to windows 10. TRW 10.1 opens ok and does basic tasks but can't handle big cloud viewing.
Waiting from some assistance from our local supplier regarding re installation, but interested to know if the monitor swapping is one answer?
