Hot keys, shortcuts, commands, tips and tricks.

Post by skrackodla »

Hi all!

Please share your best time saving tricks if you have them! Only if it's as simple as ctrl+D (deselect) or using the shift button to add to selection, none to big or small!

Thanks!

I'll even go first, but I'm very new to this so maybe don't expect magic...

3D view:
Using CTRL shifts your view from say pan to rotate.

While using the selection tool, hold CTRL to switch to rotate or push the scroll button to use pan. Holding CTRL will also enable zooming by scroll wheel. Can only be used while no selection has been made, ctrl kills it.

X or T gives you the set rotation point marker.

Correspondence view:
CTRL gives you the same shortcuts as in 3D.

Shift + left click a scan to open properties.

Planar view:
In Planar you can move around with pan by pressing CTRL while using the selection tool, it will not deselect.

Use the shift button to add to your selection.

I would really appreciate more stuff like this to make mine and others work run more smoothly!

When you make a selection and want to clear it fast, hit CTRL+D

Shift + Right Click on items in the structure pane.

Seriously, if you've never used this, try it and see what you are missing.

It gives you access to many, many more operations and information. There are options there that you can't even find when switching to the old user interface.

It really is a crucial tool for many advanced operations, but I couldn't find mention of it in the manual.

It's usually something that is used for the developers but they have always left it in there...has some legacy stuff and some new stuff...use at own risk :-)

If you haven't tried the colour contrast filter when you have dark images...it works really well!

CTRL-F string <enter> expands tree (u should collapse b4 doing) so all items with string are selectable.
(maybe only in classic UI)
I didn't find this, someone else did and posted it many years ago.

Here is a classic 'Scene keyboard command' diagram. Haven't tested it in years.

NUM Pad keys can be used to precisely adjust the position of the scan in Correspondence View.

2486 to move by 1mm and 79 to rotate - quite large jumps though.
