Inverting Laser Scanners
I thought I'd create this post as I'm seeing lots of people on LinkedIn post images of their inverted scanner setups with the kit been hung upside down by the tribrach.
Like this....
I would personally use the Nedo Invert Shaft Tripod - https://www.sccssurvey.co.uk/industrial ... ripod.html with the special adapter that fits most scanners....
And this is how to use this adapter which bolts to the base of the scanner....
I'm sure there are others on the market and I'd welcome knowledge of these products.

Re: Inverting Laser Scanners
How much is the adapter for the P40?
Already have that tripod, so handy when on site to go back round a job filling in gaps with the high set ups!

Re: Inverting Laser Scanners
A few years ago I built a rig to hold our P40 over the top of stuff, then Leica updated the firmware to increase the vertical FOV and I don't think we've used it since

Re: Inverting Laser Scanners
Don't use the tribrach. The 3 pins on the bottom of the P40 will start to slide out eventually.

Re: Inverting Laser Scanners
Recently purchased this setup and it worked flawlessly in the field. The cost of the adapter is well worth the piece of mind.

Re: Inverting Laser Scanners
We have this tripod and only invert our FARO scanner, we are too nervous to invert the P40. If we did have to invert the P40 then we would purchase that adapter as well.

Re: Inverting Laser Scanners
Phil,
We purchased this adapter from Leica / Z&F for inverting our HDS 7000 some years ago.
From what you are saying, it sounds like we would need to buy the Neno adapter, and then specify the 660041 (for the 7000) in order to use this the proper way. Or is this plate what you get (in part) when you specify 660041, and perhaps could we then specify the 660042 for our P series scanner and then be set up to invert both scanners?
Also, do you know if they make an adapter for the RTC 360 for this inverted setup?
Thanks,
Jon

Re: Inverting Laser Scanners
I should have mentioned, our rig uses an adapter which looks something like this...
