Cyclone & VR Point Clouds

Post by formbysurveys »

As a cyclone user what options are availble for viewing point clouds in VR (HTC Vive) similar to Faro's VR Generator? I appreciate and understand the VR issues of performance etc with point clouds, but looking to potential navigate via motion tracking but also looking to use gaze technology to navigate similar to using a truview.

Any suggestions?
Andy

Hi,
I'm also interested please.
Our workflow is pretty painful and inefficient today as we have to export in e57 to import into Scene and use VR there...
Thanks
Damien

Same here, I feel like extraction could eventually be done in a VR space, and probably done faster than without it.

Chaps,

Please see some videos of our VR implementation in Arena4D below. There are no limitations in terms of size of point clouds, or number of points clouds you can load into the software. We also have a Unity compatible SDK should you wish to build your own standalone VR experiences.

It's not just point clouds you can view in VR with our solution, but anything that is loaded into Data Studio, be that 3D CAD models, pictures, DXF drawings, annotations, measurements, etc..

Any questions please don't hesitate to ask or get in touch via here or our website.

Looks good!
Quick question, is there a way to make this available to my customers within a free viewer like Scene LT?

Hi Damien,

Currently no.. but the next release hopefully out next week will allow you to build packages to give to clients which will include VR capability for free.

Many Thanks

Mark
