Book about 3D laser scanner, photogrammetry and reality capture
Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum and I'm proud to become part of this community!
I am passionate for a few years now for 3D scanning by laser scanner and photogrammetry. I am teacher in France for construction professionals.
My question is: do you know any books about 3D laser scanning, photogrammetry and reality capture ?
If you know I'll be happy to have some titles!
thanks in advance

Dear Clement,
I know of two others:
G. Vosselman & H. G. Maas: Airborne and Terrestrial Laser Scanning.
https://www.amazon.com/Airborne-Terrest ... 1439827982
Jie Shan, Charles K. Toth: Topographic Laser Ranging and Scanning: Principles and Processing, Second Edition
https://www.crcpress.com/Topographic-La ... 1498772273
A third one about laser scanning in the context of construction will be published later this year.
If you're interested in a specific topic, feel free to get in touch with you. I can send you loads of articles about laser scanning and point cloud processing.
Cheers
Daniel Wujanz

Uhhh, I've forgot some about photogrammetry:
Luhmann et al. Close-Range Photogrammetry and 3D Imaging
https://www.amazon.de/Close-Range-Photo ... 3110302691
Förstner & Wrobel: Photogrammetric Computer Vision Statistics, Geometry, Orientation and Reconstruction (loads of parameter estimation in there - not sure if that's what you're looking for)
https://www.springer.com/de/book/978331 ... 60QAvD_BwE
Hartley / Zisserman: Multiple View Geometry in Computer Vision
https://www.amazon.de/dp/0521540518/ref ... 7510617472

Re: Book about 3D laser scanner, photogrammetry and reality capture
Thanks !
All of these books seems to be very interesting and I think they threat subjects in a very deep level.
And this is a quality ! But, you know, many people needs "step by steps" books and I think my students are not yet ready to read too technical books...
I don't find any book like "3D scanning for construction industry" or "How to scan a building"... More practical guides, less "scientific" books.

I'm not sure if anything like this exists.clement-valente wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 8:59 am But, you know, many people needs "step by steps" books and I think my students are not yet ready to read too technical books...

From my perspective in laser scanning learning by doing is very efficient.
There are some rules one should keep in mind like:
- The more connected two scans are (more features, more surface), the better the Registration accuracy.
- Scan the way your software needs the data.
- Closed loops are always better than long traverses without a back connection.
- If using cloud2cloud Registration keep in mind that you need surfaces in three axis.
- If using feature based Registration keep in mind tha one needs at least three spheres which must not be on a line to connect two scan positions.
- If accuracy is not a deal breaker and there is not much time->go mobile.
- If it is about accuracy measure a single scan, or use a geodetic reference net.

Thank you to everybody for the precious feedback...i'm going to buy some of this books.
I can suggest for Italian colleagues an interesting book [google]https://books.google.it/books/about/Pri ... edir_esc=y[/google]
I has read on the beginning of my experience as TLS surveyor and it was useful.
