Hi all,
I have an issue with my P40. It had a really bad fall as you can see in the picture. It was still working though after the fall, I did my scans and it was ok. However, the next day that I tried to copy the data I couldn't. The on/off button is useless and P40 will start/stop only if I insert/remove the batteries. When it starts, it just freezes at the Leica logo screen and that's it... I managed twice to turn it on properly, begun to transfer my data and then half way through, it shut down by itself.
Any ideas of how can I get my data? The scanner is going back to service but I would like to get my data so I don't have to do the scans again.
Kind regards,
Stratos

Re: Leica P40 startup issue
Stratos,
Remove the batteries for a minute and any cables you may have attached. Insert the batteries, I would use fully charged, and try to boot. This works most of the time. The other issue could be the fall caused the internal battery to become loose. If that happened, it would need to be sent in for service. We have issues when the P40 is cold and won't boot, removing the batteries has worked to boot it.

P40 run on embedded windows? Same as C10?
Can connect a USB hub .. and keyboard, mouse and USB drive .. hit windows key, grab file explorer and you can start poking around the file system.
Once you find the data files - you can start to retrieve in batches .. that way if it crashes, you can start where you left off ..
Again, this is how we got our data off a C10 that was run over .. might not apply in this case. Can't remember, we might have even had to use remote desktop to get in as well ..
