Use 3rd party USB storage with RTC360

Post by cbaze »

Has anyone found a workaround for bypassing Leica's asinine jump drive authentication for the RTC360? I want to use a 2TB Samsung T5 so I don't have to break up my larger projects into 250GB pieces. Here are the properties for the "Leica Geosystems 256GB USB Device":

There are unfortunately no larger industrial grade USB 3.0 USB sticks available that fulfil our requirements regarding speed and data safety.

When the storage was announced for the RTC360 I was a little surprised that it was USB rather than direct to SSD as is used for some digital cinema cameras. I'm curious if this was based on speed or more a function of maintaining a more familiar interface.

SSD would have also taken a lot of space, and I'm not sure what the market is like for industrial SSD

I personally suspect that in time once Field360 can manage a project over multiple sticks really large projects will get easier. I have been using a DJI Copilot for BOS

Was trying it myself for a bit and right now it seems impossible to me. Bit of a bummer since I discovered leica charges ~1200$ for those sticks

These are the things that you have to factor in when buying a scanner .
SD cards are cheap for our Faro S70.
