Wifi issue with BLK 360

Post by ZenithSAS »

Hi all !

I have trouble to download BLK 360 datas.
When I download BLK datas with the data manager application, I get an error message that appears after a while:

"Download suspended.
Ensure wireless connection and battery before continuing.
Downloaded 0 setup (s) so far.
Press Resume to download the remaining setups. "

If I press the "resume" button, the download resumes, then the message is displayed some time later.
Sometimes even the BLK disconnects itself from the computer.

I do not understand why I have this message, while the battery is fully charged each time.

This problem is more and more common, no matter what computers I use (laptops or desktops)
At the current time, I can not even download any scan, and impossible to work with the ipad (frequent disconnection)

Does anyone know this problem ?
Do you think my BLK could have an internal wifi problem?

I hired a BLK recently and had this exact issue. My solution was to always scan with the ipad and the RECAP application. Your registration will likely be rubbish using RECAP, so just export to e.57 and then re-register in cyclone.

I also noticed that if you take single exposure images - or scan with no images, then the import seems to work without the error.

You can see that other users also have the problem:

I have never experienced this issue with the BLK360 Data Manager program... with full batteries or half full batteries.

How many scans are you downloading?
Have you tried direct import to Cyclone/Cyclone REGISTER 360?
Is the unit under warranty and have you raised this with your local technical support channel?

Try to download groups of scans say 1-10 versus a huge amounts. What Firmware are you running? Should be 1.7

Hello, thank you for your answers!

@Jamesrye, the recap problem is that it does not allow recovery of leveled data, and at that time, I can not work with the ipad because of the very frequent disconnection.

@paul, at first I could download 100 scans without problems, then this problem became more and more frequent.
Sometimes I manage to download 20 uninterrupted scans, sometimes not one because it disconnects before the end.
I tried the direct import and it fails when the BLK disconnects itself.

@Eric, trying to download a scan or several gives the same result, sometimes it work, sometimes not
I use the latest firmware (1.2).

Yesterday I was unable to download a single scan, in different computers, so I tried to re install the firmware, but same result.
Today it worked without too much error, in different computers.
I am looking to see if the wifi signal could be disturbed yesterday at the office but it seems very strange.

by checking on myworld if there is a new firmware, I notice that the firmware that I use (1.2.0) is no longer online.
The last proposed is the firmware 1.1.7!
Maybe the last one had bug ??

I did not know that! If this is correct then it would explain a lot. What's the point of using the RECAP application at all then?

I'm hiring a BLK again next week, so will see what firmware they have on the unit and report back to see if the data downloads smoothly this time.

Phillipe,

Latest Firmware for BLK v1.2.0
Latest Data Manager Software v.1.5.1

Both of these plus a B/G/N wireless card for our desktop Workstation solved a 9 month problem for us
Any card with any other combination of wireless version didn't work.
The BLK operates on 10-15 year old wireless technology

James

I thank you for your response and I apologize for responding so late
I suspected that the BLK Wi-Fi was not well developed (I always had connection problem since the beggining) and it is unfortunate to see that Leica did not propose a real solution to solve this problem of wifi (customers have to deal with that, while it exists an USB-C service port...)

I will try with a wifi B/G/N key to see if it works better.
Thank you for your help !

I still find it strange that the firmware 1.2.0 is no longer available in downloads in MyWorld.......
