Intel D415 with Dot3D Software

Post by 3DForensics »

Just a short video to show that the new Intel D415 sensor does in fact work well with DotProduct’s new Dot3D software.

No, software is paid for as it is the same software used by DotProduct going forward for their DPI-8X scanner. Has a lot of features and really simple to use. Not sure of the price as it is a beta that I am testing.

Thanks Eugene,
That's great, I didn't know they were selling/renting the software separately to the hardware.
This would be great combined with the Rhino 3D Plugin - https://www.dotproduct3d.com/rhino.html

I have to ask, did you get to try the Intel D415 sensor with Faro's free Scene Capture software ?
Regards,
Mike.

Do you mean Scenect? I haven’t touched that software in ages. As I recall, it was a precursor to the Freestle and only used the Xtion sensor. I would guess you need a driver for the D415 to work with it.

There are other free solutions with the intel sensor but I just like what DotProduct has done here. The ability to add targets, measure, take photographs, add labels, processing options plus a variety of export capabilities makes for a comprehensive package.

Hi Eugene,
"SCENE Capture 2018" from Faro. It is free and works quite well with the Xtion Sensor.
It replaces Scenect and is a lot more refined.
I also have "Skanect" ( https://skanect.occipital.com/ ) , but, it is a bit clunky.
Regards,
Mike.

Eugene, there is two models of the Intel sensor that I know off, there is the d435 and d415, have you tried both, or do you know for sure that d415 is the one.
