Post by benzilliox »

This may have been asked already but looking for the best scan to bim software, currently we are looking at Cloudworx for Revit and Edgewise. Any other i should be looking at that model in Revit?

You should look at Faro Pointsense as well. If you are looking for a more affordable option, look at Scan To BIM Revit add-in (https://scantobim.xyz).

Does this software also extract square duct or only round pipe and duct?

As of now, it extracts only round pipes and ducts.

I'll second the recommendation for Edgewise. What scanner and registration software are you using? If you're already using Cyclone, I think there might be benefits to sticking with Leica, but I don't have any experience with either so I can't say for sure. But if you're using FARO software I definitely recommend EdgeWise.

What I like about EdgeWise is that it does all the work on it's own, and then you essentially just QC and catch what it missed. But a large bulk of the heavy lifting is done for you.

Not sure about ScantoBim, but if Scott Reed recommends it it's probably worth a shot.

Follow up - We tried the Edgewise and are extremely happy with the software as well as the customer service. Because we have Leica hardware we decided it best to use the Register 360 as our registration and processing software.
Thanks for your help!

Hi Guys,

EdgeWise is fast & accurate as-Built BIMs with full Revit integration. In this software walls and windows are extracted automatically by the extraction algorithms and exported directly to Revit as the correct family objects. What I like about EdgeWise is that it does all the work on it's own and a large bulk of work is done for you.

Thanks & Regards
BIM Revit
