What is your job title?
As more and more terrestrial laser scanners work their way into the AEC industry, more jobs are created. What are some of the job titles that you have seen? It would be nice to see a standardized language applied to these services, such as CAD managers turning into BIM coordinators. Are there standardized titles currently in use?
Land / Building Surveyor
Reality Capture Specialist
3D Mapping Manager
Point Cloud Monkey
Do you have any others?
Cheers!

Re: What is you job title?
Nice post, I consider myself a point cloud monkey for sure, Im sure you could fancy it up to be like Data Acquisition Specialist or something.. My title at work is Engineering Specialist, I am basically a CAD Technician/Graphics guy that got bumped up to more responsibility and not an EIT or actively planning on being an Engineer, so I guess my title is fitting for now..
What about the rest of you guys, out there, now I'm curious.. so I can search indeed.com and others to see if those "titles" are searchable?
Thanks
John

Re: What is your job title?
Nice thread idea, I like it.
In a forum that has long been around, lots of members have evolved in their careers over the years and found different paths from when they joined.
Be interesting to see some of these stories.
Can we make a rule though, if people are using abreviations that they also tell us what the letters stand for!
For example.
As for me, I am currently a BIM (Building Information Modelling) Manager in my company and am currently on a 5 year long project as a PIM (Project Information Manager). I currently over see all BIM staff and activities on the project as well as the GIS (Geographical Information Systems) team, CAD standards and staff and finally asset information (huge part of my job!).

I assume that FEA = Finite Element Analysis? I guess not many laser scan specialists would get involved in this field so probably not know.gordonired wrote: ↑Thu Aug 23, 2018 8:42 pm 3D and FEA Engineer. I'm years from being an engineer though.

Re: What is your job title?
I have had a few. Different companies have different titles.
Cyclone /HDS Operator
Cyclone Modeler / Survey Technician / BIM Technician
CAD Operator / Survey Technician
Informally its been Scanner Guy or Hey You.
The "Point Cloud Monkey" that Sheartab stated, well that one I like.
