Looks to be perfect for building surveys.
Yes it can be inverted and even the first scanner that can be hung at 90degrees without effecting the motors.
I'll post the data sheet tomorrow but here's a short insight...

3D point accuracy = 1.9mm@10m, 2.9mm@20m and 5.3mm@40mm
Range Noise = 0.4mm@10m, 0.5mm@20m
Tilt = IMU based, Accuracy: 3' for any tilt (Steven Ramsey could explain more)

This is perfect for internal measured surveys (and the rest ;) )

sheartab wrote: Wed Jun 13, 2018 9:37 pm Another question i have is if the registration is happening on-board the scanner, or on the tablet?
Both it transfers enough information to do the transformation then sends this back to the scanner.
sheartab wrote: Wed Jun 13, 2018 9:37 pm I don't recall if there was mention of target recognition with Cyclone Field 360? They come in handy when dealing with above ceiling scanning. When will Cyclone Field 360 information be released?
No target recognition but you can do this in Regsiter 360 where you can complete the registration and create your registraion reports, etc. Full release tomorrow so watch this space.

The top four features for me is...
  1. Real time registration - Automatic point cloud alignment based on real time tracking of scanner movement between setups based on Visual Inertial System (VIS) by video enhanced inertial measurement unit.
  2. Data Capture Speed - Up to 2‘000‘000 pts / sec
  3. Imaging Speed - <1min for full spherical HDR images.
  4. Double scan - Automatic removal of moving objects.

For those that might be interested, the RTC360 brochure with most of the specifications.

2650_001 1.jpg

2650_001 2.jpg
Slight correction from previous post on precision from Mike Harvey of LGS (he told me to blame him) of 4mm at 40meters, but it is 5.3mm at 40m.

Other information:
no image, 12mm @ 10m scan time=26 seconds
no image, 6mm @ 10m scan time=51 seconds
no image, 3mm @ 10m scan time=102 seconds
images at all resolutions = 60 seconds
Range=130 meters
convert to tribrach mount=extra?
convert to 5/8 thread mount=extra?
Tripod = GST80 $850?
2 batteries, hot swap = 4 hours, with 4 included in purchase.

medium resolution 100 scans with images will fit on 256GB USB stick (Mike Harvey estimate).

I am still concerned about the USB stick writing speed to a PC as a limiting time since I have not tried it yet (remember wifi on BLK360). HDR quality since I have not seen images and scan quality either.

I've tested this and its super quick, it seems much faster than USB3.0 to me. I think the time saved by writing to a stick from the instrument (remember it writes the data on the fly) is saved when writing to the PC.

A full demo data sett including RAW data will be available on the Leica Geosystems website/MyWorld this week for everyone to play with. it's a good time to acquire a copy of Register360 or update your current Cyclone-Register CCP ;)

How long will it take to copy a full 256GB USB stick (Mike Harvey estimated 100 scans+images) to a PC? I think the maximum transfer speed for USB 3.0 is 640MB/second. The fastest that I have seen a USB 3.0 stick write data is 100MB/second which will give a time of 40+ minutes, unless I have a math error. Is this a USB 3.1 or USB-C to give faster speed than USB 3.0?

I am also interested if there are more than 100 scans+ images, what is the work flow to handle more that 256GB of storage? I did not ask the question if I can plug two USB sticks in at the same time to get more than 256GB storage.

I'll do some testing over the next few days for you.

I think this is USB3.1. It's not USB-C but its very quick at data transfer.

You can't plug two sticks in at the same time but you do get two with the scanner so you can swap them around. Plus you can also buy additonal sticks if you need more storage space.

This looks to be a great scanner to come along side our P40's. I can see a lot of uses for it.
