For those that did not have a chance to hear Jensen Huang for about 2 hours talking about all the new things happening at NVIDIA, try to find the recording because it will be interesting to hear about GPU development and AI.

Re: CES 2018
Arrived yesterday January 8th in LV to get my mind and body adjusted to CES 2018 and the way things operate with so many people every where asking too many questions with partial answers and too much grand marketing visible every where.
Too much time spent communicating with people from every where on this planet. Decided not enough time to have breakfast at the Venetian since it was raining, so traffic was terrible as expected and took 45 minutes to take the shuttle from the Palazzo to the LVCC.
Started with North Hall this morning, checking on NVIDIA and their AI and related booths around them. Followed by visiting the 3D printing area, the adjacent automotive booth area with solid state lidar and autonomous vehicles. I ended the day early by passing through the Central Hall and all the LG booths and quickly passing through South Hall on a first pass without standing in line for any booth. It is difficult to imagine the number of items of interest captured in a single day at CES 2018 that will give our company a competitive edge over our competitors in the future. A good example of this was the young person that over heard my conversation with a major vendor. He waited to speak with me to discuss their approach to using high resolution video to capture objects using AI.
I decided the best way to document all the items was to use my iphone, but unfortunately with too many images killed my battery early (forgot to take along my spare 84Wh lithium battery charger). Since there are too many photos to post, I will post a few that may be of interest to LSF members (guests will not be able to see them).

Too many things happening in LV to describe now including the power outage yesterday in Central Hall and today's shutdown of shuttle transportation between TechEast (LVCC) and TechWest (Sands Expo) because police shutdown the roads leading to Sands Expo because of USA VP Pence attending something in LV.

Re: CES 2018
With too many events, booths, problems happening on Wednesday and Thursday, I decided only to post the picture of the RiVR group before I left LV. I safely returned to HNL on the HawaiianAirlines HA17 leaving LAS at 1:45A Friday. At the United Club in Terminal 3, which is open from 4:30A and closes at 12:30A, the attendant said that they had a bunch of B777 leaving full all day Thursday and Friday.
For those that have not been able to visit an event like CES 2018, the short story is one of the most massive global marketing events you will see in 4 days in the world with 2.75 million SF of lights, cameras and action. A single person will not be able to see everything in 4 days, let alone 3 days like myself on this trip. The importance of where you are staying, planning and how to move around the system is of the greatest importance. As example of this was Tuesday's rain (it never rains in LV), would allow me to get to major booths at the Sands Expo in the Venetian/Palazzo Hotels where I was staying. Trying to figure out on how to get from the LVCC back to the Palazzo for late checkout when VP Pence's visit to LV blocked all the Sands Expo and LVCC streets for 4 hours on Thursday.
I braved the rain to get to North Hall early on Tuesday. The photos above were a few of the many that were taken from my dying iphone. I fixed that by using my 22000mAh x3 USB charger so I could recharge my 2 cell phones and hot spot on the fly in my clear backpack.
WEDNESDAY, CES2018 Day 2
Had an early breakfast with a scanner CEO discussing the Intel D415 and D435 3D cameras and viewing some point clouds captured using the Intel devices, which looked pretty good.
Day 2 plan at CES 2018 was to visit the Sands Expo, especially Hall G where Eureka Park and country pavilions like UK/RiVR were located. Last year there were hundreds of booths from Shenzhen, China most of them graduated to Tech East, South Hall. There were too many people in the aisles and small booths, so I decided to move through quickly and skip most of them.
I moved to the second floor of Sands Expo, Halls A-D, where much of the consumer-home exhibits were located. Since my wife just renovated our kitchen, I figured most of the booths were not going to be productive.
I decided to return to the technology center of North Hall. Unfortunately, the power in Central Hall, the main entry area went down because of the rain on Tuesday for several hours. So I ended up in South Hall, where AR/VR MR, drone and many of the Shenzhen booths were located. After cruising around for several hours, I decided there was nothing of long term interest for me since most of the Shenzhen booths were showing connections, battery and power, audio, and lower cost video.
THURSDAY, CES2018 Day 3
Decided to return to Central Hall early to check out the massive Samsung, LG, SONY, PANASONIC, and INTEL booths. The booths were nothing like you would see at a typical show. It is hard to believe the amount of many millions of dollars spent on video walls larger than the ones that you find in stadiums for only 4 days of exhibition.
The most impressive display was the 146 inch modular micro-LED. It had spectacular colors for many different types of visualizations. It will be officially announced in March and delivered this summer.
SUMMARY of CES 2018 TRIP
Saw many of the items that may or may not be available in the future. Met many people by chance that will help our company be more competitive than our competitors in many markets; CEO from Finland in large point cloud databases; CEO of large real estate databases; Global Leader in Intelligent devices for smart cities; friends that I have not seen for many years that are now leading world class companies.
I have about 100 to 200 photos that I took while walking around. Since most people viewing this thread are guests of LSF and will not see the photos, I consider it a waste of my time unless there are members that would be interested to see some of them.
