Cyra 2500

Post by Jason Warren »

Hi everyone,
I am trying to decipher the information in a Cyra 2500 boot log shown below, and wondered if anyone could tell me whether the scanner has the latest firmware version? If the firmware is not the latest is it possible to download from anywhere and is it easy to apply?

What the intersting topic :D
The firmware version you are looking in the next strings (marked in bold):
8xx: firmware (release 1.5) found at 0xFFC60000
8xx: 2 record(s), 438232 bytes, CRC-32 is E40ACB81

8xx: found firmware start address of 0x00000100

8xx: press any key within 3 seconds to abort startup and enter the boot ROM
8xx: 3... 2... 1... 0...

8xx: Cyrax 2500 firmware, "Jul 16 2002" "11:46:09", release 1.5

It is mean what version of Cyrax2500 you use. There has been 2 versions, which have a differences only in scan density.
Please, take a look on two leaflets:
2500.pdf
And CE version:
2500CE.pdf
Maybe I'm wrong, But I had heard normal version shipped only inside US. There are some safety regulation conserning density of scanning. BUT! Maybe I'm wrong.

I found at my computer one one file with formware. Maybe it will help you:
2500_firmware_upgrade.zip
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hello, can anybody help with this issue? The result is that F1 red diode under ethernet will turn red and the scanner is not able to work properly.
Thank you, Paul

Hi Pavel,
Can you connect to the scanner DIAG port via HyperTerminal and post the full boot up sequence text?

Hello Jason,
I can do it again, but in my previous post you can see the whole log, ending this:
cyrax> 21k: In ssu.c at 135, an assertion failed

nothing else.

Ethernet not enabled after power ON, but can be switched on by diag port.

F1 red diode switched ON after few seconds.

Also I can do some videos how it "works" after powering on.

Thank you, Paul

Hello we have a Cyrax 2500 at my department. It has been stored for a few years and I'm trying to determine if it's still usable. As with the post above we're able to connect using Cyclone Viewer if the ethernet is enabled using ENET in diagostic mode. However the F1 red LED turns on after the bootup sequence and we're getting similar error messages when we try to scan.

I'm sending our Cyrax 2500 to our university salvage store this week. If anyone wants it it will be for bid (presumably very cheap) sometime later this year.

I think the board networking might be fried (couldn't get it to connect) but the mirror is intact.

Hi, were you ever able to get your scanner operational? I have one with a similar problem.
