Re: Recap Photo - solution built for UAV and drone processes.
I actually just downloaded this yesterday and processed a small project 155 photos from a P4, mission planned with drone deploy all nadir
Next time, even though i dont need it..I will throw in some obliques and see how it handles it
I have uploaded the same project to drone deploy and ran it through Pix4d locally
Pix4d still did the best job with my template that I have so it may be a bit unfair to compare BUT I will say the recap mesh was noticeable "better" than drone deploys
The Recap photo ap itself is not the most fluid and the download is a pain in the ass to find IMO but considering its so new, I'm optimistic about it
I also do not like the fact that you have to pay cloud credits before even seeing the output...I'm sure if you get bad results they will refund you but that would require you putting up a fit over 12 cloud credits (no different then drone deploy but it doesn't make it any better)
The other interesting part was the coordinate system...it made me select the "target" coord system...which leads me to believe that it is not reading the geo tags in my images, I could be wrong about that..it's not totally clear, I still need to check that
is Recap using the the site scan processing engine? Does site scan even have their own engine or are they using something else?

>>The Recap photo ap itself is not the most fluid and the download is a pain
Could you elaborate more on these two issues? If we understand them well, we would be able to fix the issues.
>>The other interesting part was the coordinate system
ReCap Photo reads the geo tags from the images to geolocate the scene, but typically geotags are in WGS84. The point cloud and mesh output does not support spherical coordinate system, and hence user needs to input a target coordinate system in UTM or Stateplane coordinate system. On the other hand if one uses ground control points and specifies input coordinate system in projected coordinated system, the same CS is used by default as target cs.
>>is Recap using the the site scan processing engine
No, it is other way round. ReCap uses it's own engine and is also available as web api to select partners. By Nov, it will be available to public on Autodesk Forge Platform.
Thank you!

I cannot understand if it is cloud only, and if the 1000 limitation is for the cloud processing or also (in case it is possible) for local processing.
