Importing data captured with Pix4D into FARO Scene
I'm new to the group an am sure this topic has been covered. Is there a method to import pix 4D point data into Scene, and align the imported data.

I have not worked with Pix4D, but if you are trying to import a point cloud, Scene allows the import of .ptx, .pts, .xyz and e57 files. These will import, and you will be able to do registration. I've only used the older version of Scene (5.4), and in this version you need to jump through some hoops before you can register faro scans with external point clouds.

as of 6.2.4.30, not PTS, maybe you meant PTZ.gordonired wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2017 7:48 pm I have not worked with Pix4D, but if you are trying to import a point cloud, Scene allows the import of .ptx, .pts, .xyz and e57 files. Any luck with aligning pix4d point cloud with scan data in scene ? I was succesfully able to import the pix4d point cloud into Scene but had no luck aligning it with the scan data.

I think you’d be better off picking out some points from the faro scans and applying them as control points in Pix4D. If you then bring the Pix4D las into Scene you could see if c2c tightens it up. I haven’t tried this exactly, but I did compare scan and UAS data in Civil3D by applying faro points to the UAS data in Pix4D.

Hi
Here, with point cloud data in Pix4D software you can export to .xyz or .las files. If .xyz files you can import directly into SCENE. If .las you can change to .e57 in Recap. After import point cloud (UAV) data into SCENE, you should processing it. Then using Correspondence View to do registration (PC(uav)vsPC(scanner) and finally you use c2c to algining them.
Best regards
Thanh
