Hi Everyone, I hail from the UK and for my sin's I live and work in London.
I made a suggestion to my company that we look into 3D Printing/Scanning as a service and now have to develop the possibility a little more closely.
The 3D Printing side has fallen mostly by the wayside, however significant interest was generated over the 3D Scanning possibilities (Survey, Building scan's internal and external and during construction).
I'll probably be asking a few 'simple' questions over the coming weeks.
I do have one question around now for anyone reading this and that's - Cost? - I have managed to ferret out the RRP costs for some of the FARO scanners (ranging from around £18k to £38k) but have been unable to find costs on the Leica P30/P40 series, if anyone can toss an approximate cost my please, it would be appreciated.
Anyhow, thanks for letting me in to bump shoulders.
Colin

Hi Colin,
I can send you all the prices for the Leica scanners of you like? I'll send you an email if that's OK?

Hi Colin,
If I am right in assuming that you are part of the larger Bouygues group, of which one part is currently involved in the Batersea development then you have a very good person to speak to already in your company.
The BIM manager for Batersea at Bouygues spent a lot of time and effort investigating various laser scanners on the market for his previous company and I am sure would be happy to help you out if it is appropriate. Let me know and I can PM his name to you.
On here you will always get a biased view, whether from a vendor directly or a long term customer of a particular vendor. The best way to discover what works for you is to undertake your own investigation and get demos of various bits of kit and software to find what works at the right budget.
Good luck and happy scanning

I hope it's different for you in the UK, but it took me 5 months of shopping, calling, emailing for me to finally give up on leica. Then two weeks after I bought a FARO scanner they emailed back and said they could come show me one. From what I read they are great instruments but if they cant even get off their butt to sell me one how will I feel when I buy one and have a problem.

Hello,
Greetings!
There are many different things to take into consideration when purchasing your equipment. Currently we are liquidating a whole 3D laser scanning unit. Highest in quality. If interested I may be of assistance in providing you with your complete set up at a discounted price.
You can find our website here: www.GlobalDesignSolutions.com
And our corporate video here: https://youtu.be/fACDIBe4hUk
If I may be of assistance I can provide you some in sight on a personal level as to what you need and what you should be paying. Before starting GDS we had all these same questions.
Feel free to contact me.
Kind regards,
John
