We've released today a new plugin for Rhino which allows you to render point cloud data at ultra high resolutions.
This plugs in to the Rhino render architecture and allows you to apply the built in Rhino effects such as depth of field, glare, highlighting, etc..
It requires the latest version of our Arena4D for Rhino plugin (version 1.10) which is also available for download now.
Here is a sample image generated from the plugin (12000 x 8000).

Many Thanks

Re: New Rhino Renderer
Hi Mark,
That is brilliant, thank you !
It has always annoyed me that Rhino cant render point clouds.
I just gave the plugin a quick try and it works very well,
It even works with the standard Rhino animation tools.
The only thing I noticed is that it ignores Rhino Clipping planes.
Will the renderer be included in Arena4D for Rhino or is it an extra and if so how much ?
Great work !
Regards,
Mike.

Re: New Rhino Renderer
Hi Mike,
We'll take a look at the clipping planes and see if we can get them incorporated into the software.
With regards to the new renderer, it is a separate plugin from the main Arena4D Rhino plugin. This is because of how Rhinos plugin architecture works and you can't have a renderer plugin encapsulated in a generic plugin.
The price is £250, Euros and Dollar versions are available on our website on the Rhino page.
Many Thanks
Mark

Re: New Rhino Renderer
Paul,
Apologies!
I should have mentioned of course the lovely looking sample image is from data captured with a Leica P40 scanner.

Re: New Rhino Renderer
Just out of curiosity...
The point cloud colouring in the video was captured with the standard P40 camera ?
Cheers,
Mike.

Re: New Rhino Renderer
Hi Mike,
I believe so. It was sample data provided by Leica so I doubt they would have used anything but their own equipment.
I'm sure Paul will be able to confirm.
Cheers
