How can I view my point clouts in Meta Quest 2 ?

Post by LPaulCook »

I can view my scans in the older wired Oculus Riff VR headset. Very Cool too! Just like being on site again! But it must be wired to my laptop which is very restrictive and cumbersome to use.

Can I create a file and upload it to the newer Meta Quest 2 and view my projects without the wire limitations for the older Oculus Riff headset?

Thanks for your help with this.

Leica TruView VR now works with Meta Quest 2 in cabled mode... if that helps?

I tried using Faro Scene Lite(free version) to stream point cloud to my oculus quest 2.
It has quite comfortable controls and works quickly
Works well wirelessly also, but you still need your laptop to stream content over WI-FI.

I tried this morning to use Quest2 with Truview VR but it does not launch, even if the device is connected to the laptop.
The project is VBR ready and the button is enabled, a pop up messages says it's launching but nothing happens...

I read the comments on this youtube page, but nothing helps.

Any clue ?

I suggest you please contact local support... I have not seen this before.

Also check that anti-virus is not blocking the exe.

And I assume both STEAM VR and Windows MR are working correctly...?

Thanks Paul, I will contact them.

After reading posts, I did install Steam and MR but I don't see the point of having them since they are not related to Quest.

Thanks for your help.
Oculus Quest 2 has a wireless streaming feature for streaming content from a PC called the Oculus Air link. You can find instructions on YouTube on how to activate it.

Then you need to have the Oculus app and Steam VR installed on your PC

After you activate the air link on your Quest 2, start the Steam VR on your computer, minimize it, and go to Faro Scene. There you will need to open your point cloud project and select VR button

How did you do this? Were you able to get FARO Scene into VR mode to the Quest 2?

Thank you!

You need to have Steam VR installed on your computer. Launch it and make sure the helmet and controllers are connected to your PC and visible on Steam VR app. After that, launch Faro Scene and select the VR mod in the top panel.

I've already sold my helmet, so unfortunately I can't make a more detailed instruction, hope this helps.
