I have mentioned this before here ;

but I can confirm this trick works with any pointcloud from any scanner. Results are as good as it gets.

All you need is a Faro Scene license (or a trial). Import a structured e57 within it. They can all be pre-registered in the software of your choice, for example TRW, export them as a e57 then Scene will honour the registration after import. After click on this to create the project point cloud, the settings in this picture is what I use most of the time but you can change those values if you want;

You will lose the ''structured'' information. This will unify the pointcloud and decimate the density to the selected settings, I do admit that the duplicate point radius is not obvious, that is why I select the minimum value. You will also loose intensity values, you can only use colors with this pointcloud.
Once the process is done to export this you need to view the top level 3d view. Create a clipping box and adjust it to the points you want to export, then right click and select export 3d selection ;

I rarely do this. I only do it to specific clients that want a photo realistic pointcloud for video/animations etc. Some architects like to have it like this as well, especially for outdoors.However for outdoors, we have been getting better results including a drone in the equation and merging the photogrammetry with the pointcloud in RealityCapture.
