Scout Work Flow - Surface Pro

Post by NOVAMECH »

Originally I bought the very first Microsoft Surface Pro to go along with my Z+F Scout Software... Unfortunately, I have never been able to get the WiFi Transfer Rate fast enough to enable on Site Registration.

Now, After this COVID BS -- I am attempting to improve business efficacy..

I have a small amount of extra funds for this. THANK GOD my business is still alive.

Can anyone recommend which Surface Pro I should try to get? To achieve x 2 wifi channel data transfer? And perhaps what I may not be doing to achieve this
And help NOVAMECH to start processing scans in the field.

Hiya Nick,
We have a range of different tablets that we use for our rental services in Australia that combine very nicely with the 5016 or 5010X.

It only has to be a windows based system so I wonder if you have considered other tablets/laptops than the microsoft surfaces?

We have moved away from using surfaces as they seemed to be unreliable and the battery life was very limiting.

Our most recent units were the a Dell ruggedised 7220 with hot swappable battery and a Dell latitude 7320.
Both are performing very well with lots of speed for processing registrations in the field and good battery life.

I'm going to be around your area conducting demos of the Z+F 5016 and NavVis VLX systems between the 3rd and 12th of August if you wanted to check out the tablet I have in action?

Yes, that's the main issue that has stood in my path.. Battery Life. By Lunch time I'm out of Surface Tablet Battery and just get on with scanning.

Yes, I would be very keen to take a look at that Mobile scanning system...

We have been using the tough pad for about 5 years with the 5016, two batteries lasts as for a normal day, if your outdoors get a third battery cause the screen brightness is the killer and the charge dock is a lifesaver.
