ortho tool with cloudworx/cyclone/reg360(i think) can give you Images of the cloud that drop into the right place (or you can move them), often what I use when I want the cloud to show in profile/plan view.

Image gets huge if you want it to be really high res, but if its just to look nice, you can make a lightweight image. Then you can either Xref or embed (pastespec) into your DWG. some exports come with reference files (TWF/TFW files for tiff's) but Jpgs/png for example, don't have that reference.

If you need to print something like this, you just need AutoCAD and Recap. Let me know if it is what you are after.

Client only cared about relative heights, so an image will do
Uni-Profile.png
Client wanted to know the layout of signage, conduits and stuff on the walls, so an ortho image will do.
Transit-Profile.png
Client wanted to inventory historic stone work, so an image + a little CAD linework will do.
Facade 2.PNG
Gotta make sure it fits the client's purpose, but you can save a boat load of time just making Ortho images, and being savy about how you use them in your Drawing files. no need to trace everything if the client isn't going to use the linework. they can measure on the image, and it will be accurate for planning-type uses. the resolution of these images impacts accuracy, so you have to add some very specific notes about what it can/cant be used for.

I have found it impossible to get a good plotting directly of the pointcloud out of ACAD or Civil 3D (Using Cloudworks). I think the drivers are not made to handle the Millions of points actually trying to be plotted. A very find res Ortho Image though can be plotted and comes out nicely. As others have said, you can generate this directly out of cloud works or Register 360 (I'm not a core user). It creates a DXF file with a referenced ortho image that will be oriented to the face of the building you've exported when you open it with CAD. These print nicely with PDF drivers

Had the same issue just now. I knew it could print but was not doing it this time. I got it to work by going to FILE and PRINT PREVIEW - It showed a preview properly and I printed from there and that worked.

Thank you
We use this same setup with powerful graphic cards and plotter capability. You are trying to send Million or tens of millions of points to a plotter it probably will choke and you wouldn't like the result.
I think the best thing you can do if you are trying to get a large size plot is to make a very refined ortho-photo from the plane you want to show and lay it behind the CAD object- we've done that on several jobs. The ortho photo also adapts the UCS and coordinate system of the Point cloud so it should come in right where it should be
