Hi,
I've got a project with the interior from a chruch is scanned and in local coordinates. The exterior was done with a drone (other company). I've supplied some point on the outside but they don't seem to manage to place everything according to my coordinates.
The exterior is not aligned and oblique.
Can I transform this pc with my known coordinates. If they have to recalculate everything with pix4d it takes ages and i'm not sure they know what they are doing.
I have Scene, Pointcab and Luposcan to my disposal.
Greetings,

Hi Lieven,
You can use CloudCompare software for this purpose. It supports transformation and scaling of pointclouds. You can align pointclouds by picking point pairs or by manual rotation and then do fine registration with ICP algorithm. Just use your point cloud from scanner as a reference.
We had similar problem with a project, where we had a scan of the rocks and photogrammetric point cloud from drone. This workflow really hepled us.
Denys.

They may not know what they are doing - your right. I would download a free 30 day trial of pix4D and do it yourself. they can send you the raw pix4D file that you can open and manipulate.
The right way to do this is to provide the drone vendor a few control points from your scans that they can input into Pix4D - then they can re-process/export the drone point cloud and everything will line up pretty much right on the money. I did a church similar to this, and our drone data run through pix4d was very close - in many areas within 1 inch.
for the control points you need 3-4 scattered around the exterior and 1-2 that are not on the same elevation. I usually just pick corners or cracks near scan positions where the point density is high.

If they use control points (even diffent from yours) a rotation along z axis and translation is enough.
Probably it's tilted because the didn't use any control point.
In this case the suggestion do to it yourself can be considered. It's an easy process.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm trying to process myself with agisoft. Drone company is recalculating hoping it will be ok this evening.
No offence for anyone who hasn't got a surveying or architect background but i have found out that the ceo used to do insurances. No wonder he doesn't control his data and sees that not every church is like the tower of pisa.
