Getting from Faro to AutoCAD

Post by CAD_Man_Dan » Fri Nov 08, 2019 10:37 am

Hi All,

I'm pretty new to processing in Scene at the moment. Ive noticed that the file sizes are huge and the export process takes a tremendous amount of time.

My current work flow is; RAW scan import, preprocess, register, export as ptx, import ptx files to ReCap.

I also tried exporting project from scene as rcp format, but when i viewed it in cad all the scans sat directly on top of each other.

Am i missing an obvious trick that reduces file sizes and to cut down on export times?

Many thanks :-)

I assume you have registered it correctly in SCENE (that you don´t have the clouds on top of each other already there).

Export as e57 from SCENE
Import the e57 file in ReCap
Export from ReCap in .PCG, .RCS or what your CAD version handle
Insert in AutoCAD

With Recap, just import the .lsproj at the root of your fully registered Scene project (I wipe project history before, but this is probably not necessary). Recap will automatically detect the associated FLS files. No need to export anything.

that's correct, this also works but i never erase the history. Always want to keep the complete project. You never know...
