Automatic cleaning

Post by jatt »

Hi there,

I am new in this wide domain of processing 3D pointclouds, using Faro Scene for 1 week !
I am looking for a way to save time and automatically clean the pointclouds instead of browsing through the whole project and clicking manually to delete all kind of stuff:
- delete yellow spheres would be the first step.

Then I 'd like to be able to delete people or cars in the way. Do you know of any technics, plug-ins? or maybe other softwares ?

Thanks :)

Scene does a fairly good job of automatic noise filtering as part of the registration process, but of course, 'still' objects, do get into the scans.
There are tools to check in the 'visibility' settings ('eye' symbol) that can be toggled on/off - spheres (magenta) and checkerboard (yellow) locations can be turned off/on as 'layers', using this settings palette. Lastly, use the clipping box to remove unwanted items (and points). With narrow slices selected, there is less chance of removing desired points beyond the ones you see in the 3D window. Good luck!

Jatt,
I would definitely take a look at sreed's thread for the pairwise filter. It will help remove points from moving objects from your pointclouds.

I would also recommend using the newly free ATS Quality Manager plugin for 7.1 to identify and remove yellow spheres.
