Hi Team quick question, is there an issue with the Set Parent Scanworld's Default Clouds function in Cyclone 2021.1.0 by any chance?
I'm trying to export from Cyclone to E57 (as separate files) then into ReCap and the ReCap is just not working as it should at all. Have only recently upgrade from 9.4.something and and never had this trouble with Set Scanworld Default Clouds function. It appears as if the the original scanworld coordinates from the scanner setups (actually, from the tablet registration in Cyclone Field 360 by the looks of it, which in this instance wasn't usable) is coming through, not my actual registration.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what is the workaround? I need to punch out some ReCap's for our Civil designers and it's really got my flummoxed!
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Bob

Try using Set ScanWorld Coordinate System in the modlespace you are exporting. It's under View>Coordinate System>Set ScanWorld Coordinate System.

It would help to know what coordinates system you were trying to get into for the engineers. The scanners themselves don't have a particular coordinate system as each scan sets on it's own , when no control is defined, it is based upon the first scan or one of the scans chosen and then added and converted to that "Scanner-head" coordinates system. If they collected it in Cyclone Field and then dump it in "pre-aligned" , it should still be processed and final registration done in Cyclone, in my opinion. Need a bit more background data.....

Re: Set Parent ScanWorld's Default Clouds Not Working
Thanks everyone
I have now managed to export to E57 (using the Export as Separate Files function) on the correct registered coordinate system but doing this from the registration's ScanWorld in the navigator screen, rather than within the registered ModelSpace (which is how I've done it for the past 12 years or so of using Cyclone; from the ModelSpace for a couple of different reasons). There does seem to be something funny going on there with the Set Parent Scanworld's Default Clouds command which could definitely bring people unstuck.
Set Parent Scanworld's Default Clouds does, along with just a name change. It does still export any data cleaning you have done within the registered ModelSpace, just not the registered coordinate system. I will test this again on my next project this week coming.

@cpw006 thanks I will give that a shot and see how it goes.
@gsisman the registration is on a MGA94 SF1.0 Plane / AHD coordinate system (that's a our Australian version of UTM and the Australian Height Datum for vertical) and I'm aware of that background regarding the scanner coordinates etc, there just seems to be a big shift in what the functiongsisman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 6:32 pmBobKeane wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 5:17 am Hi Team quick question, is there an issue with the Set Parent Scanworld's Default Clouds function in Cyclone 2021.1.0 by any chance?
