Hello,
I would like to ask if someone has experience using FARO scanners and LFM software for processing. I'm trying to find the most efficient way of importing scans with RGB colours into LFM Gateway for registration and further processing. When I import raw scans (FLS folders) directly into LFM, I can see the imported data in a grey-scale pattern only. In order to get RGB colours in LFM, I need to go through SCENE, create spherical panoramas, export the scans as PTX files and subsequently import these into LFM (while having the created panoramas in the same folder as the PTX files). This workflow is just way to much time consuming. Would someone know any better way to achieve this?
Thanks a lot for any suggestions you may have.
Lukas

Re: RGB colours from FARO scanners in LFM
Hi Lukas,
What you said is correct except for the PTX export.
If you're using the internal FARO camera then I believe you need to use Scene for the photo-stitching first.
Following that you should be able to save the RGB data into the FLS file and then import the FLS into LFM - no need for the PTX exchange.
If you have an external camera then the pano has to have the same name as the scan and be in the same folder as the FLS. It will then map the colour during import to LFM.
If you are using an iStar then there is a check-box when you import scans to LFM which allows you to map the colour directly from the iStar images.
Regards,
Martin

Hi Martin,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, you're right - this works and it's by far the fastest way.
