Rotating elbows and region creation

Post by Nikolas »

I know that when you place an elbow on a pipe straight you can rotate it by 90 degree intervals by pressing space but is there a way to rotate it by an arbitrary amount? (without changing the placement of the pipe it's connected to)

Also, i was trying to create regions for a project with 12 scan stations and right after Step 2 finished (saving regions) it gave me the following error at the start of Step 3. Error: Region creation failed

Does anyone know any possible reasons for the error?

Thanks in advance!!

The only way I know of rotating elbows is to turn on the rotation handles and rotate the elbow manually.

You can change the rotation of the elbow in its properties but it will change its position. Just click the end point of the elbow and then the end point of the straight pipe and use the move function to put it back in place.

As for the region, Im not sure.

I can't check this at the moment but I seem to remember that if you use the pipe modelling to do the insert of the elbow you specify a specific angle.

The pipe modelling function allows a rotation to be input, but you still need to know what that rotation is. I always have to rotate some things manually to get them just right.

Probably the easiest way to rotate an elbow around one of its axes with a specified angle (or small increments of an angle) is using PMC (Precision Manipulate Control) Rotate. In the RealityLINx Help File search for PMC to find help on how to use PMC.

About the Region Creation, do you still have the problem? What version are you using and how big did you specify your regions. Is there anything in the error log (In RealityLINx - Help - View Error Log) that hints to what might have gone wrong?
