This reminds me of the K & E Autoranger of the 1980's..

I still have one in my garage. Great at the time.... this is not that time anymore

That’s an interesting comment.

Whichever way I read it, it sounds like you’ll want a demo.

I guarantee you’ll be impressed if you’re looking for a fast and productive construction validation tool.

I got my first look at some GTL1000 data yesterday, with many thanks to Nick Salmons of Balfour Beatty, which includes comparative scan data of the same road bridge take with P40 and GTL1000. While sparser than the P40 and slightly noisier, the results are impressive. I've grabbed a few screen shots from SCC here to illustrate.

Overview perspective, GTL1000 top, P40 below

50mm vertical slice, whole bridge and zoomed in detail, GTL1000. We can see a kerb height here of 161mm to give an idea of scale

One of my main interests for this type of data is to see how clean it is for use for automated extraction. The GTL1000 data works excellently here as shown in the section below.

Looking at the data in close up we can see where the improved data density of the P40 gives slightly better results. These would be significantly better results at longer range but don't make much impact at short range.

From what I gather, the GTL1000 takes about 100,000 points per second, the data seems very clean on initial inspection, and you can combine measurement with survey control and additional topography, much like the MS60. The looks like a truly fantastic tool for the engineering surveyor with some scanning requirements or land surveyor getting into scanning.

Nice looking analysis Shane.

An interesting take on the application and target audience. Whilst I would agree with you, the system really comes into its own when combined with Clearedge3D's Verity for Construction Validation.
