What Point Cloud Application Displays the Most Gorgeous Images?

Post by Raymond »

Hello all:

I need one image showing one point cloud, bird's view only, but it should look really, really cool.

Please see my web-based application:

http://www.dealey-plaza.org/this-govern ... ement_Tool

(1) Move the mouse so it hovers above the top-right viewport, press Alt-w (like in 3ds Max). What you see is the top view image from SketchUp.

(2) Scroll out, click anywhere to the left of the image (or, you may move the vertical slider to the left). You will see a yellow background.

I had that particular region segmented out from a large point cloud. Now I need to take a nice snapshot of it.

So, which is the point cloud app that is most Hollywood ready?

TIA,

-Ramon F. Herrera

Here is my secret trick to create nice pointcloud rendering. Import a rcp file in naviswork simulate or manage, make sure its not decimated, you want the most density. Create an animation/camera for 1 frame, export that image and in the export tab you can play with the pixels(1920x1080.. etc) in short 1 point becomes the size of 1 pixel once rendered, you can export a 3840x2160 image or more and get some nice rendering. Issue is if you dont have enough density your image will become transparent. Have fun ;)

A few of the default renderings in SCC Before rendering I ran the ground classifier so I could easily colour non-ground data by height. How you display also comes down to what you want to highlight in the data.

Hi Ramon,

Attached, you'll find a screenshot that was taken with our software NUBIGON. You can also generate hi-res orthophotos (up to 26k) for even greater results. I'd encourage you to explore our free two-week trial: https://www.nubigon.com/pricing.html

Since you are looking into appealing visualization solutions, I have also created a quick flythrough video. You could further enrich it with all additional deliverables to showcase the entire project.
