Who can I service my Data processing PointCloud to CAD or Revit ?

Post by bobby.excelsior » Wed Mar 13, 2019 11:34 pm

Does ANYONE know of other markets I can service outside of architects?

I've become quite an expert in creating CAD and Revit files for Architects from pointcloud data I've collected and received.

The software that comes from Leica is not suitable, So I've created my own system for fast processing and creating drawings.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I can further capitalize on this?
or what industry sectors I can reach out to help with their data collection using Leica or processing data?

I'm comfortable dealing with file sizes from any scan tool of any most any 200G/300G/500G/TB's and upward is no problem for my computers to process.

I've got a background in Computers / Construction and Architectural Experience so creating and dimensioning drawings is my wheelhouse.

Staying inside the AEC industry, look further than just architects. There are plenty of opportunities out there with many already aware of scanning and modelling from them. For many it is already part of business as usual.

Engineering companies, multi discipline design companies such as CNS Lavelin & Arup, main (general) contractors, interior fit out companies such as ISG.
Also try survey companies. They might need some help on their journey into scanning, others might need help to manage heavy workload at times.

I have noticed that more and more mechanical engineering companies are starting to use laser scanning.

Hey Bobby - we're seeing more interest outside surveying and architects now. As previously noted, the design and build, fit-out and commercial retail markets are starting to embrace working with point clouds. They can see the potential further down the workflow and can help add value to their work.
