Bake on elevation map?

Post by kyle.hod »

Hi Everybody,

I'm wanting to replace rgb values with colours from an elevation map, so that these colours display on sketchfab, anybody which programs do this and also a little guide on how to do it please?

Thanks in advance.

Drop a line on the Recap forum, or give a vote to my existing suggestion, that Recap should be able to do this already. The Recap Color by Elevation feature is riddled with bugs and is clunky at best - but once you get it right its not even possible to write those values to RGB, or save the view state for export into other Autodesk products. Long been a frustration of mine.

Alternatively, you can use CloudCompare, BuildIt (by Faro) and Reshaper, to name a few (in order of affordability).
Or upload to any number of viewers that allow viewing by elevation scalar fields.

cloud compare can write elevations to RGB data field. We have done it so that it shows in recap, and revit.

It's actually really easy...go to Edit, Scalar Fields, Convert to RGB....done!

Can't you just colorize a point cloud using that option in the Autodesk products. Bot Civil 3D & Revit have that option, I believe
