Forensic animation_Trailer Sway

Post by kapabelanka » Tue Jul 09, 2019 6:04 am

Trailer sway occurs when the side forces on the trailer cause the trailer to move side to side behind the tow vehicle. Two factors are involved here: (1) the side forces on the travel trailer and (2) the location and type of pivot point that the trailer is linked to. I created this animation to demonstrate the loss of control.

Thank you for the animation example!

Link below is unrelated to 3D scanning but related to trailer sway. It shows how weight distribution can cause sway.
Then there are the hilarious comments like "Very accurate model of how Mustang drivers actually drive".

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the link. It's a great example to study weight distribution. I know the topic is not related to laser scanning but the moderator is fine with us using the general forum for general topics. That's where I usually post.
