Hi Raymond,
yes and no. The scans aren't linear like that. If you do 1 scan, there would be more points closer to the scanners location and it would thin out the further from the machine. So example if you scan a flat floor and based on a medium setting, at 3' you would maybe have 1 point every 1/20", but at 10' every 1/8" and at 30' every 1/4". With multiple scans like this we can work out an average, but at any given square yard, it may differ significantly from the average, so it really doesn't mean much.
I have had a glance and so far it looks like good detail, quality scans and properly registered. Well done to the scanning team

I do that all the time in Geomagic Design X (I am monitoring the movement of a church due to heat expansion and cold shrinkage), if the building didn't move (alot) there is no problem to combine the pointclouds

I am back, after years of dedication and accumulated experience.
See below what I just discovered. A way to objectively measure the quality of point clouds.
I am comparing two: One of them was collected for the historic 2013 PBS program. The other is its subset, it was segmented and only includes ground level.
I am using the Free (thanks!) Quick Terrain Viewer.
